The Babel Company on Tuesday announced the release of Impression 3.0, a new version of its archival utility for Mac OS X. Updates are free for registered users. The software costs $49.
Impression automates the archival of large amounts of data to CDs, DVDs or mounted drives for offline storage. The software features an automatic scheduling system, incremental archive support, metadata preservation, verification and other capabilities.
New to the 3.0 release is an automatic scheduler that works with Apple’s iCal software. Performance is improved using Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger.” A few bug fixes have been made, and some other requested enhancements have been added. A full manual is now available that offers step-by-step instructions.
A 15-day trial download is available. The Babel Company advises users that the price of Impression will be raised from $49 to $99 beginning April 1, 2006.
