CTM Development has released PowerMail 5.2.3, an updated version of their e-mail client software for Mac OS X. The new version is a free update for registered PowerMail 5 users, and costs €49 ($58.68) for new users.
The new version of PowerMail features the “first phase” of Universal Binary support, according to CTM. The developers are focusing their attention on areas that promise “the most acceleration potential first.” Accordingly, they’ve updated the PowerMail Spotlight plug-in to a Universal Binary. The software is also qualified for use on Mac OS X v10.4.4, both for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.
Reliability enhancements have also been made in this release. The developers have “rolled back” the indexing of HTML parts, which could lead to an occasional crash and rebuilding of sort indices. “The reliability of 5.2.3 is therefore greater than that of version 5.2.1,” said CTM.
