Blackmagic Design on Thursday announced the release of its Multibridge Extreme 5.4 software, available for free download from its Web site.
Multibridge Extreme is a bidirectional PCI Express-based editing and conversion system intended for video pros. It’s Mac and PC-compatible. The Multibridge Extreme supports uncompressed High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) editing.
The new software release adds support for new hardware-based HD to SD down conversion features; including Anamorphic 16:9, Letterbox 16:9 and Center Cut 4:3 modes, full broadcast quality polyphase interpolation filtering; simultaneous HD and SD outputs; and more.
What’s more, the Multibridge Extreme’s DVI-D output can now connect to dual link 30-inch LCD panels like Apple’s 30-inch Cinema HD Display, for full-screen real time HD playback. It can also scale a 1920 x 1080 image up to 2500 x 1600 for film editors and compositors who want “large-screen” HD monitoring.
Multibridge Extreme costs $2,595.
