Other World Computing (OWC) on Wednesday announced lower prices on its Mercury Elite Pro-AL RAID storage system — an external FireWire 800-based RAID chassis that’s Mac-compatible.
The Mercury Elite-AL includes FireWire 800 and FireWire 400 adapter cables, Dantz/EMC’s Retrospect backup software and Intech SpeedTools diagnostic software. The chassis is made out of aluminum and uses Oxford Semiconductor’s 912 chipset. Inside each box are two hard disk drive mechanisms rotating at 7200RPM.
Prices have dropped from $10 to $50 depending on the model. The Mercury Elite Pro-AL RAID is available in 160, 230, 400, 500, 600GB and 1 terabyte (TB) configurations for $229.99, $289.99, $329.99, $399.99, 599 and $899.99 respectively.
