Aspyr Media announced Wednesday plans to publish Command & Conquer Generals Deluxe Edition for the Mac. This $59.99 collection of previously released games includes Command & Conquer Generals and its expansion pack, Zero Hour.
Command & Conquer Generals is a continuation of the legendary real time strategy (RTS) game series that helped define the genre. You control the forces of the United States, China or the mythical Global Liberation Army in a near-future combat experience as you send tanks, planes, troops and other units into combat over 3D terrain.
Zero Hour extends the experience by adding an arsenal of new offensive and defensive tools like 30 new units and 20 new upgrades; a new Challenge Mode that pits you against 9 computer-controlled generals; 15 new missions and more.
Rated T for Teen by the ESRB, the game requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G4/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 2.8GB free hard disk space, ATI Radeon 7500 or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better with at least 32MB RAM and DVD drive. Aspyr plans to accept pre-orders for the collection soon.
An Aspyr Media spokesperson confirmed that this is specifically a repackaging of earlier released products; neither the game nor the expansion pack have been updated as Universal Binaries to run natively on Intel-based Macs.
