Epson on Wednesday took off the wraps on its Perfection V700 Photo and Perfection V750-M Pro scanners — new scanners designed for professionals and enthusiasts who need to scan film and transparencies. The new scanners are coming in March and May and will cost $549 and $749 respectively.
The new scanners share features like the dual lens system, which allows users to scan film ranging in size from 35mm to 4×5 inch at 6400 dpi, or transparency or reflective scanning at 4800 dpi. The scanners automatically set the right lens to e used depending on the resolution. They also feature Digital ICE Technologies, a special scratch and dust removal system. Both scanners have an optical density of 4.0. They also feature both USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces.
A fluid mount accessory is also available that enables the V750-M model to perform wet scans — useful for scratch remove and grain reduction from black and white film. The V750-M also has special anti-reflective coatings on its CCD lens and a high reflection mirror.
System requirements call for a G4/500MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 732MB hard disk space, CD-ROM drive, USB 1.1 or 2.0, FireWire 400, Mac OS X v10.2 or later.
