The Bayesian spam filtering software for Mac OS X SpamSieve has been updated to version 2.4.2, a free update for registered user. SpamSieve costs $25 to register.
SpamSieve adds Bayesian filtering capabilities to Mac OS X e-mail clients including Apple’s own Mail application, Emailer, Entourage, Eudora, Mailsmith and others. The software dumps suspected spam messages into a separate folder that you can look through periodically and then throw out.
New to this release is improved catching of a new type of spam that SpamSieve was inconsistent at catching before. It also works around new tricks spammers are using and improves the way message attachments are analyzed. Phishing detection has been improved, and a bug fix has been made to avoid problems with message analysis from Apple Mail and Eudora. Training performance has been improved for Tiger and Jaguar users. There’s more, too.
SpamSieve requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later and a compatible e-mail client. SpamSieve is a Universal Binary that works natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
