Reader Rocco Tarantino is interested in scouring our site. He writes:
I often want to look up articles in past issues of
dating back three or four years. So far I’ve been unable to do so. How do I go about finding an article in a three-year-old issue?
I’d first look to Macworld’s
Advanced Search page, where you can hone your search to include a time period between certain dates—January 2001 and December 2002, for example. Within that page you can also configure your search so it’s limited to certain departments—News, Features, Secrets, Reviews, or Opinion. You can also search for words in the story’s body, headline, or URL. And you can sort your results by date, relevance, or title.
But you may know this already. Here’s another idea:
Use the Google search field found within Safari and type:
are the items you’re looking for.
For example, if you want to search our site for iMac articles from 2002, enter
iMac 2002 site:www.macworld.com
Although you’ll get a few false positives (articles that were published after 2002 but include that date in the text, for example), you should be able to find what you seek fairly quickly.
Of course this formula works for any site you wish to specifically search.
