Griffin Technology announced on Friday that its iTrip FM transmitter for iPod is now available in Switzerland. The devices has heretofore been limited in its overseas distribution because of strict European laws that limit devices that broadcast on the FM radio spectrum — laws that have recently been changed in Switzerland, according to Griffin.
“iTrip’s CE certification means that users can rest assured of iTrip’s compliance with strict laboratory guidelines for emissions, broadcast strength, electrostatic discharge, and immunity to outside interference,” said Griffin in a statement. “In plain language, this means that iTrip will not conflict with other electronic devices, and that it will be available to a wider European market.”
The iTrip attaches to the dock connector on third, fourth and fifth-generation iPods. It enables iPod users to broadcast their music to their vehicle’s FM radio, providing a wireless connection that lets you hear your music. Griffin sells the iTrip in the US for $49.99.
The iTrip is available in Switzerland through MediaMarkt, FNAC, Manor, Dataquestin and other iPod accessory retailers.
