Reader Ed Blair Greene would like a keyboard shortcut for a Quicken command he uses routinely. He writes:
This program has no keyboard shortcut to print checks. To my mind this is a really stupid omission. Is there a way to fix this in Mac OS X 10.4?
Sure. Launch System Preferences, click the Keyboard & Mouse preference, click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, and click the little Plus button at the bottom left of the window.
In the sheet that appears, choose Quicken from the Application pop-up menu (if it doesn’t appear in the list, choose Other from the bottom of the menu and navigate to Quicken inside your Applications folder), enter Print Check… in the Menu Title field (be sure to include the ellipsis, which you make by pressing Option-semicolon [;]), enter the keyboard shortcut you’d like to use in the appropriate field (be sure it doesn’t conflict with another keyboard shortcut used by the program), and finally click Add.
If it’s open, quit and restart Quicken and your keyboard shortcut should now appear next to the Print Checks command.
