Bauhaus Software Inc. on Tuesday introduced Mirage Studio Pro, a new addition to its Mirage line of 2D animation products. Mirage Studio Pro, which incorporates add-ons sold separately for Mirage, is available for Mac OS X and Windows and costs $549. It ships on March 14, 2006.
Mirage is a 2D animation and special effects package aimed at professionals. It’s developed to substitute the paper to digital linear workflow used at some studios to a completely digital environment instead. The software is used in cel animation, anime, rotoscoping, stop-motion and more. The software’s client base includes Disney, Cartoon Network, Pixar and others.
Mirage Studio Pro is a new version of the software that adds the Animator’s Toolbar, an automation tool designed to save animators time. You can apply toon shadows to characters over time with a single button push, for example, or removing the white substrate of scanned images and other cleaning actions.
Also included Board-O-Matic 2, a digital storyboard system that includes customizable templates, automatic pan generation, auto print formatting and other features.
In conjunction with this release Bauhaus has announced its Mirage Support Plus plan, a $99 for six months support deal that guarantees you response time and dedicated online support. Basic support remains free.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or higher, G4 or faster, 256MB RAM, 2GB hard disk space.
