Logitech announced Wednesday plans to ship a black version of its mm50 portable speakers for Apple’s iPod beginning in April. The speakers will retail for $149.99.
Logitech’s mm50 speaker system features three-inch drivers equipped with neodymium magnets. The system uses a dock connector to attach to the iPod, and is compatible with “nearly all models sold in the past two years,” according to Logitech.
The new black edition complements an existing white one — the black model was designed to appeal to the large numbers of iPod owners who have been purchasing black-clad models in recent months. Both the iPod nano and video iPod are available in black versions.
The mm50 will recharge the iPod’s battery when connected to an AC outlet. What’s more, the speakers have their own rechargeable battery that lasts for about 10 hours per charge. A wireless remote control is included that lets you adjust the volume, track forward, track back, play and pause features of the iPod.
