GarageGames announced Monday plans to publish two books to help game developers get the most from its Torque Game Engine technology. The books are coming in April and this summer.
The Torque Game Engine is a 3D gaming engine that’s served as the basis for numerous Mac game releases including Marble Blast, Orbz, ThinkTanks and more. It can be licensed by independent developers for as little as $100, and is available for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows operating systems.
GarageGames’ publishing announcement has been made with scientific book publisher A K Peters. The first book is entitled The Game Programmer’s Guide to Torque , and GarageGames calls the book a primer on how to make games using Torque Game Engine. It includes a CD with a demo version of the software. It will go on sale starting April 3, 2006, with advance copies for sale at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), which happens later this month.
The second book is entitled Maximum Torque , and it will go on sale this summer.
