Adobe Labs (formerly Macromedia Labs) on Monday announced the public beta release of Adobe XMP Toolkit v4.0. Adobe XMP Toolkit is a metadata labeling technology aimed at developers. It works with Apple’s Xcode 2.2 environment, and is a Universal Binary for Intel-based Macs.
The new beta toolkit release contains Adobe XMP libraries. Third-party software developers can use these libraries to tool software of their own that uses Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) tags to capture, share and leverage file information. Such technology is used in design and publishing workflows.
New file handling capabilities in the 4.0 revision of this technology add features that “enable consistent metadata workflow” across different Adobe products. You can use Adobe Bridge to gain a centralized view of XMP data.
