Memorex hopes to replace the floppy disc with its new FlashDisc, a USB storage device that it says is cheap enough for people to share. The FlashDisc debuts in 16MB capacities; Memorex sells them in packs of three for $19.99.
The FlashDisc works just like any USB thumbdrive. It features a USB connector that works with Macs or PCs, but it’s encased in a round protective plastic case that looks like a disc — it measures 2.3 inches in diameter and about 0.3 inches high.
The package includes labels you can use to identify what’s on the FlashDisc, and they’re color-coded in black and red, black and yellow and black and blue.
