Apple has released Battery Update 1.1 for 15-inch aluminum-clad PowerBook G4s. The update is available for download from Apple’s Web site.
“This update aids the 15-inch Aluminum PowerBook battery in performing at full capacity,” said Apple on its Web site.
The softwqare updates the battery firmware on 15-inch PowerBook G4s equipped with double-layer SuperDrives (and some earlier models as well). It’s required to keep the PowerBook’s battery life up to specification and may help to recover battery life in some batteries that have developed short run times. In some cases, reports Apple, it can recover batteries that have become unusable.

The update requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4.3 or later.
