Carrara developer Eovia on Thursday introduced Hexagon 2, a new version of their polygonal modeling software for Mac OS X and Windows. Hexagon 2 is expected to ship in April, and will cost $269. Upgrades from the previous version cost $119.
Created for graphic artists who need to create detailed and textured 3D models, Hexagon 2 has added features like freehand modeling brushes, microdisplacement modeling tools, comprehensive UV-mapping features, 3D paint, ambient occlusion and more. The software’s compatibility with Wacom pen tablets has been improved, and images created using Hexagon 2 can now be exported to Eovia’s Carrara 3D rendering software.
System requirements for Hexagon 2 call for G4/800MHz or faster or G5, Mac OS X v10.2 or later, 256MB RAM, 24-bit color display, OpenGL-accelerated 3D graphics and 300MB hard disk space.
