Elgato Systems on Friday released EyeTV 2.1, an update to their Personal Video Recorder (PVR) software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered 2.0 users, EyeTV 2.1 costs $49 if you’re upgrading from the 1.x version through the end of the month. After March 31, 2006, it’ll cost $79.
EyeTV powers hardware devices sold by Elgato and other companies that enable Mac users to record television shows on their Mac’s hard disk drive. The software features scheduling capabilities, exporting functions and more.
At Macworld Expo in San Francisco this past January, Elgato introduced EyeTV 2 — the first paid upgrade for the software. New features in EyeTV 2 included integrated scheduling, one-click export to video iPods and more.
In addition to Universal Binary support for Intel Macs, EyeTV 2.1 features full-resolution High Definition (HD) playback on Macs equipped with Intel processors — MacBook Pros, Mac minis and the new iMac can play full 720p and 1080i HDTV content. iPod exporting speed has been increased for both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
What’s more, Elgato also released EyeConnect 1.1 — a free update to their media streaming software for the Mac. EyeConnect 1.1 is also a Universal Binary.
EyeConnect is a Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) AV-compliant software application that enables Macs to stream digital video, photos, music and movies to UPnP-compliant hardware that’s connected to a home entertainment system. EyeConnect works with various devices including those made by Buffalo, D-Link, GoVideo, Philips and others.
With EyeConnect 1.1 installed on an Intel Mac, users can now stream HDTV content from their Macs to HDTV-compatible UPnP AV media players.
