Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts plans to e-mail more than 1,000 freshmen acceptance letters by the end of the month. Within the e-mail will be a link to an iTunes podcast that features Fitchburg State President Dr. Robert Antonucci.
Pam McCafferty, dean of enrollment management, said in a statement that the podcast has been created to demonstrate the school’s commitment to use technology throughout the college. “It isn’t just about the latest flavor and it’s not about flash. There’s substance behind it. It is about the college as a whole recognizing that technology can improve the way we communicate and learn,” said McCafferty.
The podcast was produced by the school’s faculty, staff and students. The soundtrack for the podcast was taken from a recently released CD made by a professor of music at the school.
Fitchburg State College is also producing podcasted lectures and other educational content available through iTunes.
