Google has released an updated version of Gmail Notifier, its Mac OS X application that tells you when your Gmail account has new mail. It’s available for download now.
Gmail Notifier is now a Universal Binary that runs natively on Intel or PowerPC-based Macs, according to a recent blog entry by Google software engineer Greg Miller. It also features update notification, so you’ll get an alert when a new version is available for download. What’s more, new icons have been incorporated.
Miller noted that Gmail Notifier features a plug-in architecture, and advised users to check out one specifically called Gmail+Growl, which uses the Growl notification manager for Mac OS X to alert you to new mail.
