Epson America Inc. on Thursday announced its Perfection 4490 Office, a flatbed scanner designed with automated document scanning in mind. It’s Mac and PC-compatible, features a USB 2.0 interface and costs $349.
The Perfection 4490 Office can scan three black and white pages per minute at 300 dots per inch (DPI) and can scan two color pages per minute at 300 DPI. The scanner features “Epson Easy Photo Fix,” which does one-step restoration of faded photos, slides and negatives, and also sports built-in “Digital ICE” technology that removes scratches and dust from negatives and slides.
The scanner touts hardware resolution of 4800 x 9600 DPI and a 3.4 Dmax rating.
The Perfection 4490 Office comes with an interchangeable document feeder and transparency unit. The automatic document feeder can hold up to 30 sheets, while film holders can batch-scan 35mm slides, negatives and film.
Epson’s Web site included information on other 4490 models but not the Office version as Macworld posted this article.
