Royal’s new EZVue line of flash storage drives let you view the names of files stored on the device without having to connect to a computer first. The drives will be available in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB capacities for $49.99, $79.99 and $99 respectively.
Each device features a built-in, scrolling two-line display that lets you view files in their directories or subdirectories, along with file extensions, size and creation date information. A “jump” key lets you “jump” between directories and subdirectories. The EZVue drives also let you see what name has been assigned to the drive, along with capacity and free space.
Royal has also developed an external Secure Digital (SD) card reader and writer that employs the same technology, so you can view the contents of SD cards. It will retail for $29.99.
Also included one each Flash drive is Windows-only backup software. The drives themselves are Mac and PC-compatible, however, and connect using USB 2.0.
Royal’s Web site had not been updated with information about the EZVue drives as Macworld posted this article.
