Electronics reseller Crutchfield has long been a mainstay for Do It Yourself (DIY) users who want to upgrade the sound systems in their automobiles. Now Crutchfield has announced the digital drive-thru, which it says can help identify exactly what you need to connect your car stereo to an Apple iPod or another portable digital music player.
The Web-based service has you select the iPod model you own, identify your car’s make and model, tell it what stereo you’re using, and then lets you know what your options are — from control systems that can connect to your existing stereo’s auxiliary input or CD changer interface to FM transmitters and cassette adapters, if necessary.
The new digital drive-thru relies on Crutchfield’s existing database of more than 10,000 cars and car stereo systems, cross referenced with information on iPods and other devices.
