Apple’s Web site indicates that it’s now shipping the Universal Binary version of
Final Cut Studio. Final Cut Studio is Apple’s $1,299 pro video editing suite, comprising Final Cut Pro 5, Soundtrack Pro, Motion 2 and DVD Studio Pro 4.
After announcing the release of Intel-based Macs at Macworld Expo in January, Apple announced plans to ship Universal Binary versions of the applications included with Final Cut Studio that run natively on Intel-based Macs.

Apple offers a $49 “Crossgrade” for existing Final Cut Studio users to upgrade to the 5.1 Universal Binary version. What’s more, users of Final Cut Pro 5 can upgrade to the full Studio release for $99; users of other individual components of the Final Cut Studio package, such as Motion 2, Soundtrack Pro or DVD Studio Pro 4, can upgrade for $199.
The upgrade program
began in early February
and continues through the end of December 2006.
