Music software company Steinberg introduced the HALion Symphonic Orchestra at the Musikmesse tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany. The new VST instrument includes an integrated player and a 27GB library.
The library sounds, which were played by a European orchestra, includes samples for strings, woodwind, brass and percussion including crescendo, decrescendo, accents, half and whole tone thrills, bowing (where applicable), portamento, pizzicato, expressivo and more.
Symphonic Orchestra also includes RealAmbience, a feature that adds the real reverb tails of the included instruments that were recorded live after the instrument stopped playing. The RealAmbience control dynamically blends in these additional samples as desired, recreating a genuine concert hall inside computer-based production environments.
Supporting VST, DXi, AU as well as ReWire, HALion Symphonic Orchestra also offers a standalone mode capable of playing out to multiple outputs.
HALion Symphonic Orchestra will be available in Q2 2006 for $499.99.
