If you have a Mac equipped with Front Row but you find Apple’s own remote to be a little inadequate, Keyspan’s new RF Remote for Front Row might interest you. The $39.99 remote features a longer range and more features than the remote Apple includes on systems that come with Font Row installed.
As the name implies, the RF Remote for Front Row uses Radio Frequency (Apple’s own remote uses infrared). That means that the remote works through walls and furniture — it doesn’t require a line of sight to the host Mac in order to work. It also delivers a range of up to 60 feet — twice the distance of infrared remotes, said Keyspan.
The RF Remote for Front Row connects to the host Mac using a USB transmitter (included). It doesn’t require any additional software to work. What’s more, it touts nine buttons that can be used control Front Row — like Apple’s remote, it includes up, down, fast forward, rewind, play and pause buttons, and a menu button. It also includes a mute button, a CD/DVD eject/insert button and a sleep button, to either sleep or wake the Mac.
