iPREPpress and Merriam-Webster have announced the release of Merriam-Webster’s Pocket Dictionary for iPod. The $14.95 software lets users search for more than 40,000 words and their definitions using the iPod itself.
The dictionary also includes a pronounciation guide, abbreviation guide and a handbook of style, according to the companies. Users search for definitions using scroll and click navigation, viewing entries using hierarchical menus and hyperlinks. The software uses the iPod’s “Notes” feature to store its content.
iPREPpress and Merriam-Webster plan a partnership to make other guides available to iPod users over the next two months, including a pocket thesaurus, rhyming dictionary (good for song and hip-hop writers), pocket atlas and dictionary of quotations.
System requirements call for a third-generation or newer iPod (excluding the iPod shuffle).
