Apple released J2SE 5.0 Release 4 on Tuesday, an update for Mac OS X 10.4.5 Tiger users. According to notes provided with the update the release delivers improved reliability and compatibility for the Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0. With today’s release J2SE 5.0 becomes the preferred Java version, superseding Java 1.4.2. Apple notes that Java 1.4.2 is still installed on the machine, but applications will run with J2SE 5.0 unless they specifically request Java 1.4.2. The update is available as a
