QuickerTek’s iBook Connect is a small external adapter enables Apple iBook laptops to extend their wireless range without adding wires. The device costs $199.95.
Powered using USB or an AC adapter — and available in a $229.95 kit that includes an internal battery — iBook Connect operates between the iBook’s internal AirPort or AirPort Extreme wireless networking card and the laptop’s access point — an AirPort base station or another wireless networking base. It amplifies the signals going in and out of the iBook.
QuickerTek claims the device features four to five times as much radio frequency (RF) output and has a more sensitive receiver than Apple’s own AirPort Express. It works on all 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networks regardless of platform. The iBook Connect features its own 2 dBi antenna.
