Mariner Software on Tuesday released MacJournal 4, a new version of their professional and personal journaling and blogging software for Mac OS X. The new version costs $34.95 for the download release — a shipping version will be offered in the near future. MacJournal 3 users can upgrade for $14.95.
MacJournal enables users to create and maintain electronic journals and post that content to Weblogs (blogs). Rather than work as a general word processor, MacJournal has been specifically tailored for the needs of people who want to consolidate their thoughts and opinions in journal form.
Mariner said that version 4 of MacJournal features a “completely reengineered” blogging architecture. A new Inspector has been added to manipulate attributes. Audio recording and podcasting functionality is new in this release.
Users can now change background color, label, sorting, entry template and other attributes per item. A “real” implementation of tabs is now supported as is an improved Full Screen mode. Links, smileys and words are now recognized as you type. AppleScript is also supported.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later. MacJournal is a Universal Binary for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.
