Tenon has announced the release of iTools v8.2, an update to its configuration and management software for Macs running Apache Web servers. The software has been updated with support for Intel-based Macs, and sports greatly enhanced performance, according to Tenon. iTools costs $349.
iTools — not to be confused with Apple’s original name for the services that evolved into .Mac — put a graphical user interface on Unix technology used to manage Apache Web servers. Web hosting providers and system administrators can use iTools to automate hosting tasks, delegate administration, manage Web sites, view logs and more.
The new version of iTools includes Apache 2.2.0, mod_perl v2.0.2, a more efficient mod_fastcgi 2.4.2 and numerous other enhancements.
The combination of software updates and Intel-based support in iTools 8.2 has led to an Intel Core Duo-based Mac mini outpacing a dual G5 system, according to Tenon.
iTools 8.2 works on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server and can optionally be combined with Post.Office mail server and list server and WEBmail Web-based e-mail for $999.
