Newer Technology Inc. has developed a version of its miniStack V2 device with 750GB of on-board storage, USB and FireWire connectivity. The new $599.99 model is available now.
The miniStack was developed as an external storage system, FireWire and USB hub designed to complement the Mac mini. It measures 6.5 x 6.5 x 1.5 inches, and provides three additional USB 2.0 ports and one additional FireWire port.
With the recent introduction of Seagate’s 3.5-inch Barracuda 7200.10 750GB drive mechanism, the miniStack V2 can now sport a total 750GB of on-board storage.
Although it’s designed to work underneath the Mac mini, the miniStack V2 is compatible with any Mac, PC or Linux system with an available FireWire or USB 2.0 port, and it features EMC Dantz’s Retrospect backup software, cabling, and Intech HD Speedtools.
