SubRosaSoft has released CopyCatX v3.5, an updated version of their drive duplication and recovery software for Mac OS X. New to this release is support for Intel-based Macs and Macs that have been configured with Boot Camp. A free update for registered users, CopyCatX costs $59.95 on CD or $49.95 for download only.
CopyCatX lets you back up your Macintosh by making an identical copy of the hard drive to a second image. Files are clones with permissions, icons, placement and content intact.
New features in CopyCatX v3.5 include Universal Binary support for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. The new version can clone drives that have been set up with Boot Camp, Apple’s software that allows Windows XP to be installed and run on Intel-based Macs. The cross-platform device copying ability also works with TiVo and Linux drives.
Also new to this release is the ability to recover CDs and DVDs by copying images to archives; it contains proprietary software that can also try to work around media faults to create working disk images from damaged or scratched media.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
