Battlefront.com and TBG Software have announced a June 1, 2006 release date for their sci-fi tactical armored combat game DropTeam. It’s being released simultaneously for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows operating systems, first as a download and then on CD.
DropTeam is billed as a “realistic” sci-fi-themed game as it uses accurate physics and ballistics systems and a true line-of-sight system to model battlefield conditions, even if it’s a futuristic theater of war that you’re fighting in.
In DropTeam, you fight for control of planets, accomplishing a wide variety of objectives as you use land fighting vehicles, sensors, mines and automated turrets. The game features single-player and multiplayer capabilities, for up to 16 players at a time.
DropTeam can be pre-ordered for $45. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.5 or later and G4 1.2GHz or faster; Nvidia GeForce 4 or ATI Radeon 9600 graphics with at least 64MB VRAM; and 512MB system RAM — Intel Macs were not supported during DropTeam’s public beta test.
