Apple on Wednesday posted System Management Control (SMC) Firmware Updates for some Intel-equipped iMacs, MacBook Pros and Mac minis. The updates are available for download through the Software Update system preference, and can also be downloaded through Apple’s downloads page.
Affected models include iMacs, 15-inch MacBook Pros and Mac minis manufactured in early 2006, according to Apple. Each update addresses boot issues. The download installs an updater application in the Mac’s Utilities folder, and launches automatically after restart. Users are required to follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.
