Elgato has released an update to EyeTV, their Digital Video Recorder (DVR) software for Mac OS X. EyeTV is bundled with Elgato’s hardware video recorder devices and several third parties and is also available for purchase separately. EyeTV 2.2 is a free update for 2.x users.
New to this release is support for Elgato’s EyeTV 250 device, which includes built-in hardware-based MPEG encoding, as well as a Game Mode that bypasses hardware encoding, for use with video game consoles. Also supported in this release is EyeTV VHS Assistant, which helps users convert content from VHS tapes to DVD players, using Roxio’s Toast 7 Titanium or Apple’s iDVD software.
Also new in this release is support for DVB-T USB sticks from TerraTec — specifically their T USB XS and Hybrid T USB XS models.
A number of bug fixes have been made in this release, including Digital Audio Out for Intel-based Macs, using Mini Toslink optical adapters, QuickTime and AAC movie and audio export using QuickTime 7.1, issues with the EyeTV 200 and more.
