Macworld is blessed with a large roster of expert writers. The most obvious example may be in the world of the iPod, iTunes, and digital music, which is where Christopher Breen, Dan Frakes, Jim Heid, and others hold court on a regular basis. The result: we publish some of the best stuff on the planet about the iPod and iTunes.
If you tore pages out of the magazine and printed articles out from both Macworld.com and Playlistmag.com, then stapled them together, you’d create a pretty impressive collection of information. But unless you’re really into scrapbooking, assembling that stuff wouldn’t be a lot of fun. And of course, the older articles wouldn’t exactly be current.
So here’s the good news — I’m happy to announce that today we’re publishing a new book, The Macworld iPod and iTunes Superguide . Within its 88 pages you’ll find the very best stuff we’ve published on the subject over the past few years, organized and updated into a single easy-to-use resource.
Let me be clear: this is not some thrown-together collection of reprinted old articles. Over the past months, Senior Editor Kelly Turner has worked with writers Breen, Frakes, Heid, Jonathan Seff, and Kirk McElhearn to assemble an awesome, information-packed guide to using iTunes and the iPod to their fullest.
In the book, you’ll learn how to import music from CDs, cassette tapes, and LPs without compromising on sound quality. We’ve got smart strategies for organizing and managing your music files so you can find exactly what you want—or discover some unexpected pairings. We’ve also got the inside scoop on downloading podcasts, video blogs, and TV shows, or if you prefer, converting video from your own DVD collection for playback on your video iPod.
Speaking of iPods, this book has plenty of tips and tricks for taking advantage of their lesser known powers, as well as squeezing out extra battery life. And every chapter is filled with smart ideas and time-saving strategies so you can spend less time managing your music more time enjoying it.
There’s a lot of stuff in those 88 pages. And you can get this book in several different forms, depending on your preference. For $12.95, you can buy it as a downloadable PDF. For $24.99 (including shipping), you can get it as a lavish full-color printed book. If you just want the PDF but don’t want to download it, for $15 (including shipping) you can even get it on CD-ROM.
And if you want to see more before you pony up your hard-earned cash, I completely understand. So we’ve created a 1.4MB 16-page downloadable sample from the book for you to check out, just to give you a taste. You might want to control-click on that link to save the PDF file to your desktop, then open it in Preview or Acrobat Reader. (And yes, the e-book itself is in an unencrypted PDF format which can be read with any PDF-reading application, including Apple’s Preview or Adobe’s Reader.)
This is the second in our new Superguide series of books — last year we released the Macworld Digital Photography Superguide and the response from readers has been excellent!
We think this new book is a great resource for every Mac user who loves iTunes and their iPod. We look forward to your feedback, as well as suggestions for what e-books we should publish in the future. You can send both to ebooks (at) macworld dot com.
