Aspyr Media has posted final system requirements for its Macintosh conversion of Sid Meier’s Civilization IV. Aspyr typically provides final system requirements within four to six weeks of a game’s delivery to retailers — the company has specified a June, 2006 release for the game.
Sid Meier’s Civilization IV is the latest installment of the legendary civilization-building game, in which you raise a human civilization from its humble beginnings to its domination as a technologically and culturally sophisticated world power.
Changes in Civ IV compared to previous versions include faster-based gameplay, greater accessibility that borrows from real time strategy and actin games, a flexible technology tree, the ability to grow bigger empires, LAN, Internet and Play-by-Email multiplayer options, and more. The game is a Universal Binary that runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
Minimum system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G5 or Intel-based system running at 1.8GHz or faster, 512MB RAM, 3.5GB hard disk space, 64MB VRAM and one of the following video systems: NVIDIA GeForce 5200, 6600, 6800, 7800 ATI Radeon 9600, 9650, 9700, 9800, X600, X800, X850, X1600.
Aspyr recommends Mac OS X v10.4.6 or later and a 2.0GHz or faster processor for optimal results.
Rated E10+ (suitable for players 10 and older) by the ESRB, Sid Meier’s Civilization IV is available for pre-order for $49.99.
