Speck Products on Tuesday introduced the SpeckTone Retro — a tabletop speaker system for the iPod that uses 1950’s styling cues. It will begin shipping on June 12, 2006 for $149.95.
The SpeckTone Retro features a four-inch subwoofer and two three-inch drivers with 28 watts of output. The Retro’s throwback underpinnings go beyond the looks — it also features analog circuitry, which Speck says offers more rich, deep tones.
The SpeckTone Retro is compatible with dock connector-equipped iPods including the video iPod, iPod nano, fourth-generation iPods and iPod mini. It’s also compatible with other portable devices using a 1/8-inch auxiliary jack.
The SpeckTone Retro comes in one of three different high-gloss lacquered finishes: black-on-black, green/brown and white and silver.
