M-Audio on Friday introduced the MidAir collection — a line of wireless MIDI keyboards and interfaces. The MidAir 25 is a $249.95 25-key keyboard, and the MidAir 37 includes 37 keys for $299.95. Both keyboards ship with the wireless MIDi receiver. The MidAir 25 is coming in June and the MidAir 37 is coming in August.
Both keyboards tout velocity-sensitive keys and 2.4GHz wireless MIDI interfaces. The MidAir 25 also features eight MIDI-assignable knobs, mod and pitch bend wheels, assignable sustain button and pedal input. The MidAir 37 adds nine assignable faders. The keyboards connect to receivers that connect to a Mac or PC using USB within 30 feet.
The MidAir receiver relays MIDI data from the controller; it can also work as a standard USB-MIDI interface so you can connect other MIDI gear without needing separate interface. It’s a class-compliant device, so no additional device drivers are required.
M-Audio said the MidAir keyboards don’t even need to be used with a computer; they can be connected directly to a standard MIDI instrument and can control them using preset and octave +/- buttons. Both keyboards can be powered with either a 9V DC power adapter or with batteries.
Also coming is a MidAir wireless MIDI interface. Pricing is to be announced; the product is expected to ship in August.
Information about the new MidAir line was not available from M-Audio’s Web site as Macworld posted this article.
