Macgamefiles.com — a respository of Mac game updates, demos and other content — is reaching out to independent Macintosh game developers looking for a way to host files. The company is now offering free game hosting on its own servers to shareware and freeware Mac game developers.
A sister production of Inside Mac Games , Macgamefiles.com features libraries of Macintosh game demos, updaters, tools, add-ons and other content. The service features lists of new game submissions and the most popular downloads, a searchable database of content, and different categories depending on your interest. Macgamefiles.com claims to have served nearly 20 terabytes of data in April, 2006.
Macgamefiles.com offers developers a drag-and-drop submission system. Macgamefiles.com checks the submission and makes it available to the public, usually within 24 hours. The staff advises developers once the files are available.
In return, the service asks developers to point download links to Macgamefiles.com.
The service hosts demos, shareware and freeware Macs, but doesn’t host “mods,” maps or similar files at this point.
