Software music-maker Steinberg on Wednesday began shipping its orchestral library, HALion Symphonic Orchestra. The 27GB library features the HALion sampler engine and is targeted to musicians, producers and composers in just about any field or genre, according to Steinberg. The orchestra library comes with 1250 orchestral string, woodwind, brass and percussion instrument patches, including an array of articulations and playing styles. HALion Symphonic Orchestra is available for $499.99. HALion String Edition 1 or 2 customers can upgrade to HALion Symphonic Orchestra for $199 or $99 respectively. Owners of many competing orchestral sample products can crossgrade to HSO for only $299.
