Sonnet Technologies on Thursday announced the iFreq, an FM transmitter and charger for iPod nano. It will cost $79.95 when it’s released in the third calendar quarter of 2006, according to Sonnet.
The iFreq plugs into the car’s cigarette lighter or accessory adapter and works not only with the iPod nano, but with all dock connector-equipped iPods (though it ships with a cradle designed especially for the nano). The cradle itself has an adhesive-backed magnetic disk you can attach to the dash for in-vehicle mounting.
Like Sonnet’s PodFreq, the iFreq tunes into an unused radio frequency to transmit stereo audio to your vehicle’s audio system. It features tuning controls and a large, backlit LCD display.
