Sports Interactive has released a playable demo version of Out of the Park Baseball 2006, their baseball management game for Mac OS X and Windows. Out of the Park Baseball requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4/1GHz or faster and 256MB RAM.
Out of the Park Baseball 2006 puts you in the role of all aspects of a professional baseball team general manager, from setting up your player roster, managing lineups, depth charts and pitching staff. You can sign up new players, initiate trades, respond to offers and much more.
This isn’t a 3D action game like you’re likely to find on console systems or the PC. Instead, it’s more akin to the soccer (football) management games popular in Europe. Sports Interactive has developed similar games for soccer and hockey, as well.
You can even take control in the dugout, making calls between pitches, demanding that players make double-steals, pitchouts, suicide squeeze plays and more. The game is complete with statistics like batting and earned run averages, assists, innings played and so on.
Out of the Park Baseball also simulates financial systems used in real pro baseball, along with a full coaching staff, support for real-world baseball league stats and historical records dating back to 1900. You can also create your own, entirely fictional baseball league. There are sub-leagues, divisions and teams, minor leagues and international leagues. Multiplayer gaming is available, too.
