Splasm Software has renamed its iPod video conversion tool from Podner to ViddyUp. The new 1.6 version also sports new features and several fixes. A free update for registered users, ViddyUp costs $9.95.
ViddyUp provides users with drag-and-drop video file conversion for the video-capable iPod. It writes the finished video files out to iTunes for instant synchronization with your iPod. It’s a Universal Binary for Intel or PowerPC-based Macs.
Besides the name change, new features in this release include SubRip (SRT) subtitle support with customizable settings for font, style, size and color, a more informative error display and minor appearance tweaks.
Several fixes have also been made, including more reliable poster frame generation; ignoring pixel aspect ratio if the movie dimensions are different than the image sample dimensions; improved performance and more.
ViddyUp requires Mac OS X v10.3.9, iTunes 6 or later, QuickTime 7.0.3 and three times the amount of temporary hard drive space as the size of each processed movie file.
