OmniPilot Software on Monday announced the release of Lasso Professional Server 8.5, the latest version of their Web scripting and programming language. What’s more, the company also announced the release of Charft FX for Lasso, which lets Lasso developers create dynamically generated graphical charts for their Lasso-driven sites. Lasso Professional 8.5 costs $649; Chart FX for Lasso is bundled with the new release.
Lasso Professional 8.5 helps developers create data-driven, dynamically-generated Web sites. Developers can work with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostegreSQL, MySQL, FileMaker, OpenBase and many other formats.
Beside Universal Binary support for Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs, new features in 8.5 include “LJAX,” Lasso support for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX); built in Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration; shell support; enhanced site administration; direct sending to remote SMTP servers and much more.
Upgrades start at $349.
Chart FX for Lasso — created by Software FX — lets Lasso developers create data visualization capabilities for their Web sites. The dynamic charts created using Chart FX for Lasso can include borders, 2D and 3D layouts, rotation and perspective, transparency and antialiasing, labeling, gradients, constants, series attributes, customized legends and other capabilities.
Bundled free with Lasso Developer 8.5, the software will also be included within Lasso Studio for Eclipse when it’s released this summer. It retails separately for $999.
