BakBone Software on Wednesday announced the release of a Universal Binary version of NetVault: Backup 7.4.2, its enterprise backup software that runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
NetVault is a multiplatform backup system that works on Mac OS X, Unix, Linux, Solaris, Netware and Windows. It provides disk-to-disk backup using what BakBone calls a “Virtual Disk Library” (VDL) system that can operate as a standalone backup device, well-suited for high-capacity and data-intensive environments.
Besides Universal Binary support, NetVault: Backup 7.4.2 features new ease of use features and enterprise enhancements, such as improved management using Xsan, Apple’s storage area network software, and command line interface tools, plus added scalability, better media management and international language support.
NetVault Mac sales are handled through Apple’s direct sales teams, according to BakBone.
