Daystar Technology has announced the XLR8 ProView USB. The new $99 device captures video using QuickTime from analog video sources using USB 2.0.
The XLR8 ProView USB allows “full-screen” capture at 640 x 480 pixel resolution at 29.97 frames per second (FPS) for NTSC or 25 FPS for PAL. It grabs video through RCA or S-Video composite input, and uses a mini-jack for audio input. VideoImpression video capture and editing software is included, as is VideoGlide. You can also export movies to any QuickTime-supported format, including iMovie DV.
Any USB 2.0-equipped Mac is supported, and the device drivers are Universal Binary for native support of Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.5 or later.
