Tivoli Audio has introduce the iYiYi, a new “digital home entertainment system” that provides a dock for the iPod along with AM/FM tuner, built-in alarm and digital clock. The iYiYi will begin shipping this fall and costs $299.
The iYiYi will be available in white or black with rubberized knobs and incorporates two 3-inch full-range drivers. The universal docking station includes seven dock adapters to accommodate any dock connector-equipped iPod.
The system includes a blue backlit LCD display that will show you what source the music is coming from; it supports Radio Data System (RDS) information where available, so it’ll tell you what you’re tuned to and what you’re listening to (if the radio station transmits that information).
The LCD also acts as a digital clock, which supports an alarm and a 20-minute sleep timer. The power transformer is built in so there’s no “wall wart” that sticks out from a power outlet — just a regular cable.
What’s more, the iYiYi features an auxiliary input and stereo headphone output, so you can connect it to another source. The device features a mixing input so you can combine audio from another source as well, such as your computer (so you can hear your e-mail client software ping you while listening to your iPod, for example).
The iYiYi also includes a credit card-sized remote control that controls the iPod and the iYiYi.
