Apple has posted details of an eMac Repair Extension Program it is offering for users of select eMacs who have video or power-related issues as the result of a specific component failure.
According to the information posted on Apple’s Web site, specific eMacs affected by this problem were built between April 2004 and June 2005. Users of affected eMacs are likely to see scrambled or distorted video, no video or no power. Apple has posted the serial number ranges of affected machines.
The extension program provides repair services by Apple for up to three years from the original date of purchase, even if the eMac is now out of warranty. Coverage for this extension program is worldwide.
Apple noted plans to contact customers who may have already paid for out-of-warranty repairs to correct this particular problem, with details on the reimbursement process.
